Where we were & we we are

Ask and you shall receive... After my last post I was asked if I would share pictures of our new place, and of course the raging narcissist inside of me immediately said, "heck yea! You want pictures, I'll  give you pictures", but then I thought if I am going to give you a virtual tour of our new abode, why not take it just one step further and show you a couple pictures of our old place too, you know, so you can compare... Or so you can see the tiny shoe box we were living in and realize that it's no wonder why our present castle is sadly embarrassingly empty and totally bare.

Where we were -  this is our old house (apartment) which was a typical studio lay out which meant everything (except the potty) was in one large open space. This apartment was once a two car garage that was converted into a livable 700sq foot space. I am sure you can imagine that it was a bit crapped  (ummm as in we tripped over each other) with 5 people living there, and of course the small space meant we were semi forced into a minimalist life style but we made it work. Of course there are no real pictures of the inside, as it wasn't super photo worthy, but I am sure that the outside alone gives you a pretty darn idea of the space we were actually working with 

 

Where we are - This is our new castle and trust me when I say it sincerely feels like a castle after living in a shoebox for 5 months. It is a two story 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath house that is approximately 2,100 sq foot of livable space (yup THREE TIMES the space we had) it does need some work and like any other old house it has it quirks. But it has solid bones and amazing potential and we are so looking forward to spending the next 5 years of our lives here making memories, and mot importantly, making this house a home.... Of course that means that means I am going to have to bound and gag the craft hating side of myself and come up with some nifty ideas for decorating, making furniture and overall showing this house the love it deserves. - Heck, I may even start me a little segment here on the blog, so you guys can all laugh at me and my crafting/decorating fails, because I am sure they will be epic.

This is a picture of the back of our castle, our yard is small as you can see, but we have a small garage and storage building there that makes up for the lack of yard space.

This is the living room, or at least my favorite part of it. I love the mantle, there used to be a real fireplace there, and I imagine I was beautiful, but with a toddler who is into EVERYTHING I am glad it is gone, and we still get to enjoy the mantle 

This is our dining room which as you can see is totally and completely empty (yes we are entirely unpacked) but I am sure you can also see the beautiful bay window (there are two in this house)

My kitchen, I have wonderful ideas for this kitchen, I hope to eventually turn the kitchen and adjoined dining area into a retro 50's diner. I have always loved retro and I think this kitchen is perfect for that old soda shop/diner look 

The stairs and entry way, this is right inside the front door... Of course you sadly can not see all the details of the beautiful entry way. 

The upstairs landing, this is the hallway/landing where we are sitting up a reading nook, his is also the area which leads to all bedrooms and upstairs bathroom

My bedroom (yes it is empty with the exception of a bed) but I also have great plans for this room, and I love that the second bay window is located in my room : )

This is the room of my tiniest spawn, he is a huge fan of Disney cars as you can see, and of course I have plans to hopefully turn this room, into an amazing Cars room.

Well there you have it you have now (virtually) toured my castle. Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to having you "visit" more as we work on turning our house into a home...
