Homeless? Yes..... Hopeless? NO!

Homelessness: describes the condition of people without a regular dwelling. People who are homeless are most often unable to acquire regular, adequate housing or lack "fixed, regular, and adequate night time residence. The term homeless may also include people whose primary night time residence is in ad hoc housing situation, that does not include living on your own plot of land or house.

By all dictionary definition my family is indeed homeless. We have no home of our own, and are currently sleeping on the couch of a friend while all of our personal belongings are stored in a storage facility across town. I never dreamed in a million years that I would be in this position, and must admit that I am guilty of believing the stereotypes about homeless people

However, I now understand that most Americans are indeed in the same situation as my family, There is a large number of people who are one paycheck, or simple mistake (either their own, or like in our case someone else's) away from potentially being homeless and/or loosing everything.

Being homeless is hard, and not having a guarantee of where you will lay your head at night is a bit scary, but does homelessness also mean hopelessness?

Hopeless: 1) providing no hope; beyond optimism or hope 2) without hope; despairing 3)impossible to accomplish, solve, resolve, etc. 4) not able to learn or act, perform, or work as desired; inadequate for the purpose.

I think NOT! Sure, our current situation stinks, but I will not give up hope or allow my family to do so either. All hope is not lost, and we will overcome this situation, we will prevail, and conquer. This situation will not define us, nor will it hold us down and defeat us. We will be filled with hope, and we will lean on faith.... We will rejoice in this storm and learn to dance in the rain.

As of right now, we are currently looking at approximately 2 months of this situation, but in the mean time I will not give up the dream of falling asleep at night in my own bed in my own room. We will achieve all things, and we will live our dreams. Right now we are simply facing a trail that will merely strengthen our testimony.

We have God on our side and with him all things are possible! So although we are indeed homeless, we are NOT without hope. We are not quitters, we are a family of survivors and we are NOT giving up now!

God says he has plans for us, and his plans are to prosper us, so I believe that we WILL prosper, and we will one day look back and smile at this horrible storm remembering that even while we were weak, God was carrying us through : )
